Hey guys..I have a question that really bothers me. I did not apply for SUSI since I forgot, anyway.
I am going this September to uni, I checked DCU fees for my course and the EU fee was: 6670€ and also Student Contribution of 3000€
So do they add together and the total is about €10.000? It seems a pretty big amount, DO YOU HAVE TO PAY EACH YEAR 3000€ for student contribution? Really?!
Also, what is the Free Fee Scheme?I lived all my life in EU, how can I apply for it?Somebody help a girl out, I have never ever been so confused in my entire life. Thank you.

€6670 is what you have to pay as an EU student, the €3000 is for Irish students that can avail of the free fees scheme. I'm not sure what all the criteria is for the free fees. So you will not have to pay €10000 a year, as the €6670 includes the €3000

Oh ok , I understand! Thank you.
Also can I avail of the free fees scheme even if I am not Irish?Like I have lived in EU all my life, but only have been in Ireland for two years.

    Oh it says:
You must have been living in !!!!!!!!!!!an EEA member state or Switzerland for at least 3 of the 5 years before starting your course

So if I lived 15 years in Germany, and ONLY 2 in Ireland, is that fine?
Shouldn't it be 3 years only IN ONE OF THE STATES? For example Ireland
The things is that, can I qualify if I lived in both countries?Because it says an EEA member state at least three years which I understand that only a country for at least three years... Before starting my course, which I didnt. Because the rest of the years I have lived in another country in EU. How would they know that I only lived two years in Ireland?Sorry if the question is stupid.

My advice would be to defer your college for a year, sign on the Jobseekers Allowance and then claim for back to education allowance next year along with the SUSI grant to cover your fees

Use this to check if you are eligible.

    https://susi.ie/eligibility-reckoner-app/index.html

    SUSI Website
    Residency criteria
In order to receive funding from SUSI, you must have been resident in the Irish State or the EU/EEA/Swiss Federation for three of the last five years.

If a student has been living in EU/EEA/Swiss Federation but not in the Irish State for three of the last five years, they are deemed a tuition student. A tuition student, if deemed eligible, will only receive the fee portion of the Student Grant and will not receive any maintenance payments. Please note that there are no exemptions to this rule. It applies to all applicants including, for example, volunteer development workers returning from abroad to undertake studies.
