Swollen glands in neck after root canal

I had a root canal this morning on a bottom molar. The tooth and surrounding gum are a bit sore but not bad. Within the last few hours though I've developed a rather severe pain in my neck on the same side and I'm pretty sure the glands are swollen. Is this likely to be down to the root canal or is it just a coincidence?
