Quarantine period for newly registered accounts for After Hours

After Hours has long been a target for re-regging trolls but it seems to be getting worse of late - the current 'transgender people in army' thread being a good example, with users registering several accounts in succession specifically to troll on that thread.

Perhaps it would be worth putting in a quarantine period for all newly registered accounts before they can post on AH? Say 6 months with a minimum of 20 previous posts before they get access - or some variation thereof.

There was a suggestion before that new signups should have a period of membership before they can post.

or new signup posts would require approval

After a lot of discussion the decision was made not to introduce these measure as the benefit of stopping a few determined trolls would not outweigh the loss of easy access to people that want to take part then and there.

However, there are forums that have membership restrictions and requirements before users can post, perhaps a similar measure could be considered for AH. 6 months / 20 posts might be a bit over the top though when a few days would take the sting out of most reactionary re-reg trolling (the topic to be trolled would probably be gone) while the determined troll that really has nothing better to do, will find a way around almost any measure that gets put in place.

Possibly a topic for open discussion.
