So I read all the reviews and indeed this film was rated poorly. But I have to say I loved watching a bitter man, Roger Allam, casting his pessimistic, drunken viewpoint on the futile nature of everybody else's lives. I smiled from start to finish. Many of the usual pundits who review a film suggested that this film was simply inappropriate in so many ways. And I guess that's why I really liked it. I think for those that don't take themselves seriously and enjoy synicism, they will enjoy this film a hell of a lot. I will put it down as one of my favourites. To give a flavou to the film, he is sitting in an audience watched some Roman play on stage when first he has to remind the lead actor of his lines before the whole thing ends up in bedlam with the cast of the play leaving the stage to try and kick the crap out of him. Think I might watch it again tonight because I smile every time I think of this film.
