What you need is known as a passivating spray . You spray it on and leave it cook/work in and then wash off. Followed by intensive washing.

Avesta are the best but it's not cheap.
Product: Avesta 630 finish one passivating spray.
    25L@250euro plus VAT.
Walsh engineering supplies in mallow supply it and will offer you details regarding use and safety precautions.

Milk stone remover any co-op will have it. Have done it before. Wear a mask, gloves and goggles. Use a brush.

I did. It was a 1000 gallon dairy cool tank. Opened 2lids and climbed in. If you had a long handled brush you could do it from outside. Thankfully I got a new tank so my days of climbing in to clean it are over.

Wouldn't the constant cleaning from inside mark the stainless steel from foot wear?

Last time I went into a tank no boots just bags over the feet. Soft brush and hot water tho, tank had auto wash so that did the chemical wash

Only used to get into the tank about once every 3or 4months. Had the tank over 20 years. Was a davy automatic washer on it that didn't work great.
