    Hi,
I realised my husband (who is employed by garage full time) never received his p60 for last year this year and when I asked him to ask his employer about it he was told that they will not have them till mid/end of August. Is this normal?

I thought that alright. Any reason why they would be saying he can't get it till August?

Wouldn't think so. Where I am they are generated from the payroll software at year-end so available end of December.

Check with Revenue and see if the employer filed a P35 for 2016.

    I doubt they'd tell you.

It's very strange. Will get him to ask for it again. Thanks all.

When you go into your detaila for 2016 on revenue.ie, are the correct details there? Should match gross pay etc from final payslip of the year.

Likely they're fiddling the system and the business is in trouble.

Get him to contact welfare for a report on his PRSI stamps, and start job hunting too.

Yes, all details and all is matching up.

Bit of a leap to a conclusion there... it's possible alright but not necessarily likely.

Given the time of year it's entirely possible that the employer's bookkeeper or accountant is on holidays, or they're going on holidays themselves and this request simply isn't a priority for them.

If details of pay and tax are showing up on his online MyAccount for 2016 it means the employer filed the P35 with Revenue.

Check with DSP for PRSI contributions. More than likely a lazy accountant is the reason for no P60 or employer uses a payroll agency.

Why do you always see the worst in everyone.
Do you run a business. Have you any idea what its like to keep up with all this form filling crap. Its more likely to be some dopey accountant asleep at his desk. You would get plenty of reminders from revenue about an overdue P35.

Experience with what scumbag employers will do to their staff, and awareness of the consequences for staff of these actions. [The boss deducts PRSI from you but doesn't hand it over = You aren't eligible for welfare, and your pension entitlement when you're old is affected too.]

    Yes.

P60s being that late is one of the red-flags which employees should watch for.

Having them arrive in April (rather than February) is a dopey accountant. Having them arrive in August, and even then only after prompting is a sign of a business with next-to-no financial management in place. Not somewhere that an employee should feel comfortable investing a months' worth of work in before getting paid. Not quite so risky if they're weekly paid, but there's still the risk re pension credits.

In this electronic age , a P60 is not really important , as it may not show the full picture . I now can find all the info I need online and no need for this dreaded paperwork .
Op - you need to simply login online at www.revenue.ie and you can request a P21 balancing statement and on this document you will find your earnings , tax paid and USC paid . This document will also show you your full tax credits for the year you select .
To find out your PRSI contributions  , you simply register at www.mywelfare.ie and you can then request a statement for payments and contributions .
