    HI all,

I am new to properties etc, I bought 3 bed end of terrace house end of last year and trying to do some changes ... I love skylights and always wanted one, love the light in the house, there is very little light upstairs when the bedroom doors are closed so thought skylight would be great idea, just not sure how it is all going to be fitted as there is attic above where the skylight should go so it seems to be a bit of job, can anybody recommend company/ individual who is good and offers fair pricing? Can anybody advise on rough cost as trying to do few things at the moment so would like to know roughly how much I am looking to pay for it? Which brand of windows should I use? I heard about Velux and Fairco, is there anything else or should I just go with one of these two? any advise appreciated, thank you so much, wishing you all lovely day!

Consider Planning implications if the roof light is to the front.
Other than that its a straight forward job that any builder/roofer/plasterer/painter can complete.

No idea on cost but id expect at least 2k after all areas are made good and finished.

When your getting the Roof-light best to get the other things the builder may need.

    Insulated collar
    Flashing kit
    Timber for side walls
    Vapour barrier for side walls
    Insulation for side walls
Plasterboard for side walls, skim, tape, plaster, paint
    Nails/screws
    Roof trimmer timber
    Some felt
    Batten or two
    Hopefully no tiles/slates are broken
Access to roof : scaffolding hire/errection

All of the above plus, unless you are confident you can order and arrange everything required to avoid delays etc, then best to let the builder arrange for everything and give you an all in price.
