How long for retention permission

How long would you expect Galway county council to process a retention planning?  Buying a house from a relative, they didn't comply to the plan back in the 90's (changed door location and added a side gable), should be straight forward enough according to the engineer. He isn't giving any clear indication of how long the process will take.
    Thanking any feedback in advance.

min 3 months from date of application, possibly more depending on the seriousness of the breaches

in my experience planners go harder on applications for retention, making sure everything is above board.

Same length of time as a normal planning application, only the planners go through it in more detail. Dont forget retrospective contributions if applicable.
