Disabilty Allowance - social welfare

I got accepted for Disabilty Allowance in May and got my first payment on the 14th of June.

I'm wondering does everyone get backpay/ Arrears?

I'm confused as to if I'm getting it or not.
My letter says "you have been awarded a Disability Allowance from Wednesday 15/06/17. You have been assessed as having means of 0.00 per week. Details of how your means were assessed are set out in the enclosed statements."

Below that it says "arrears off Allowance due from 15/03/17 to 13/06/17 less any other payment made on your behalf for this period, and less any other payments that have occurred will issue after a later date. PLEASE NOTE, If you were in receipt of, or being claimed for on another Social Weldare or Health Service Executive payment for this period you may not be due any arrears, as there payments must be deducted from Disabilty Allowance."

From when I applied to get Disability Allowance on the 15/03/17 and got accepted in may and paid in June I was recieving Job Seekers of €100 a week. Now I'm getting €193 on Disabilty. Could someone please help me figure out if I'm due arrears/backpay?

Much appreciated and thanks in advance!

The amount you have been paid will be deducted from your arrears so it'll be
    193 of disability - 100 of JA = 93
If you haven't been paid anything else your arrears will be 93 for each week that you are owed.

Others on here will know better but I suspect you're due the delta from when you applied to when you were accepted. So that would be 12 x €93.00 or €1116. But as above, not an authoritative answer.

    Edit: NJ got their first.

Thank you very much! I was thinking that would be the case aswell but was unsure. Do you know how long the arrears takes to be paid out? Currently I think it's about 8-10 weeks.

Thanks for the reply :) I was unsure but was hoping that was the case. Just have to find out now when the arrears will be paid out.

I don't know for sure but I've heard there's quite a delay so you're probably right. It used to be the other way round - ages for a decision and fast arrears so I'm glad it's changed now and you weren't waiting too long!
