Hey I just moved in with 2 lads that are also on the dole

I've been approved for fuel allowance starting in the winter

Now I've read that it's only paid not by person but by household address

If they apply for there own will they be rejected or is it true only one person gets it

Does that means I have to give them a 3rd each

Yes it's paid to the household.
Wouldn't you all be using the same heating? There's no need to divide it between the three of you just put it into the household for heating bills before it's divided by 3.

If got bad news for you. Fuel allowance is only paid to people who live ALONE. You are not entitled to this spent if you live with other people.

It's not a living alone payment but he will need to be living with someone who is also able to claim it which they may well be able to.

    From the link below-

You live alone or only with:
A dependent spouse, civil partner or cohabitant and/or dependent children
Other people getting one of the qualifying payments who would also be eligible for a Fuel Allowance in their own right
A person who is getting Carer's Allowance or Carer's Benefit and is caring for you or for your dependent spouse, partner or cohabitant
A person getting short-term Jobseeker's Allowance or basic Supplementary Welfare Allowance

Have a chat with them and get them to apply op.

From someone working in a local office. they don't need to apply. And they don't need to qualify. As long as they earn less than 100 euro we aren't interested in them. That's 100 each meaning the pair of them could make 99 a week and it wouldn't matter.

They would need to qualify according to the rules of the fuel allowance scheme unless those rules have changed?

No but I can see the confusion. it's referring to people who are on other schemes as their income would be too high to qualify the household for fuel.

The simplest way we where told to arrange the payments is to check does anyone earn over 100 euro. Even a minor working part time could effect it.

He also states he has already been approved and part of his application is indicating all household applicants and their earnings etc. If he didn't qualify under these circumstances he wouldn't be approved.
