Thqvj you, any idea on timeframes?

My first learner to second learner permit took approx. 5 days.
    Lost, I'd imagine similar.

I suggest not making an appointment with the NDLS and just go there first thing in the morning- appointments aren't mandatory and it's rare that you'll be held up for an extended period. Make sure all the documents are in order because if something is missed and you must be contacted by the processing centre, they will put you into the discrepancy queue and they will hold back your application for a month regardless of how quick you reply.

Does anyone know what period a replacement licence covers? The period that was on the lost licence, or another ten years as if it were a brand new one?

Basically, you get your old licence back (except on a shiny card, assuming you lost a paper licence). There are some exceptions (mainly corrections) depending on your circumstances but unless you happened to have been within 3 months of your renewal date, you'll get your previous categories, start and end dates back assuming none of your other personal details have changed such as address or surname etc
