Before I begin this post, I would like to point out to the moderators and the other users that I am NOT using boards.ie to advertise anything, I'm just seeking advice. I am thinking of going into business for myself as say, a typist where I'd type up a number of documents like CV's, letters and essays and I would also do a bit of proofreading too. My question is if anyone give me some tips on how to do this? I know that there are basic things like setting up a website, creating adverts and using social media but is there anything I may have overlooked?

You need to set yourself up as a Sole trader, by registering with the CRO, and then with revenue. It might be worthwhile getting a consultation with an accountant to make sure that you have all the boxes ticked if you are unsure.

I would also advise that you have a chat with your local enterprise office. I found them invaluable when I started my own business (totally different from typing). :)https://www.localenterprise.ie

This thread may also be helpful together you thinking...
