Anyone know what number they're up to for the internal part of this comp?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 310 ✭✭thelibertyboy

this campaign is only for current civil servants ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 878 ✭✭✭Kurn

No, I don't think so, but there was two panels formed from it, one internal and one external.

    Re:external campaign email last week

"We are in the process of organising interviews for Dublin vacancies for candidates placed up to 84 in the Infrastructure and Operations Open Stream. The current vacancies are in Dublin however the panel will remain in place for up to 2 years and further vacancies may arise during this time.
There is still a possibility that we will be calling a further batch of candidates for interview for the Infrastructure and Operations Stream."

No idea, but considering they're up to 84 already... maybe a good sign?

Anyone know if you can interview for this if you are already a HEO (since January 2017 - was not a HEO when I applied)

    Don't see why not

Any tips or experience information for the interview?

Is it similar to the HEO interviews held recently for the Civil Service?

The deadline for the campaign was 5th January 2017, and candidates have already been interviewed/ranked, so I wouldn't think you can join this particular campaign now. I would inquire internally though, since they are clearly looking for people.

Just re-reading this: Sorry I thought you meant you want to put in a brand new application. if you've already applied and have been made an HEO since then, I see no reason why you should be disqualified for being promoted! If you weren't an HEO in January then that's all that matters. If it takes them eight months to respond, you shouldn't be penalised for that.

I've an interview this week, how did you find it? Did they examine each of the 6 competencies separately?
Did they focus on anything in particular?

    Thanks.

    Hi Kurn,

The interview was fine the usual competency interview. Two of the panel took 3 competencies each. The technical where mostly around system test, no questions on development. Team leadership is only competency they drilled down on, and looked for another example.

Hope this helps and best of luck.

I haven't heard anything yet. I say sometime in September we should hear something, they are probably waiting for everyone to get back after the holidays.

Hi, I've been sent the vetting forms email. How long from when you returned the forms to when you took up the position?

Any idea of the likely amount of infrastructure posts- versus dev/software/testing posts? Presumably infrastructure posts are pretty rare- possibly 20:1 in favour of software dev posts?

    Anyone any ideas?

I don't know. I was in the infrastructure stream and it was quite quick form interview to appointment

Vetting only took me 2 days. It was very quick after that

    Hi NotInventedHere,

I got called yesterday for interview on the 30th of Jan for Infrastructure stream. Was originally ranked way down so wasn't expecting to hear back. Surprised it got this far as I had written off my chances way back in March.

Anyway, noticed you got through the process. Was the interview purely comptency-based or were there any technical questions?

    How did you find it?

    Would appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks.

I think you'd be very surprised at how much closer the ratio is to 1:1 than to the 20:1 ratio that you expected!

    Hi Mehread,

I am on the panel a year now, had an offer for my first selection after 9 months, did not accept it, holding out for second location and no feedback as of yet. If you are looking for Dublin the panel will move much faster.

I'm on the Dublin panel... just wondering is there any way I can find out how long it will take ? Or how many jobs they have going in Dublin?

Its on a needs basis- i.e. they don't have a number of jobs available- posts are offered as Departments approach PAS seeking staff. The highest number of these posts are in Revenue, DSP and Agriculture- and all of these three Departments have held recent competitions under licence from PAS for HEO ICT posts (they weren't necessarily advertised by PAS).

Unfortunately- it is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question........

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 Mehread

Who sorts out the Garda vetting and references- is that done by pas or the relevant hr department?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 issy123

If you need to know how long it is going to take,it's pas.
Email. Gillian.holmes@publicjobs.ie and she will update you. You send all your documentation into pas.
    Best of luck
