Android app with topographic maps of Ireland?

    Hello,

I'd like to use my Android phone as a navigator when walking in forests and hills. But Google Maps is quite unsuitable, as are other automobile-oriented map apps.

Is there an app that would let me view a topographic map and see my position on it? Ideally the map should be downloaded offline, as coverage can be patchy.

Viewranger is exactly what you want. You can purchase OSI maps or use the Open maps, which I find more than adequate when in the hills, OpenCycle has a lot of the trails marked on it.
