Regular v Stiff

I know the answer is probably how long is a piece of string but any advice would be appreciated.

My driver has a regular graphite shaft and I drive balls all over the place, zero consistency. Lots of slices and occasional fades.

My 3 and 5 wood have stiff graphite shafts. I seem to be a lot more accurate and consistent with these clubs, only the odd slice but mostly straight.

Would I benefit from a stiff shaft driver do you think? I've only taken up golf again two weeks ago after 14 years so pretty much starting from scratch.

    Thanks for the advice.

It could also be the shorter shaft with the fairway woods. That's often a cure. Have you tried gripping down on the driver?

Honestly the difference between stiff and regular isn't going to make huge differences to your dispersion. It might make some but it won't be massive. The club might "feel" a lot better though and encourage you to make a better swing with better results.

There's also no industry standard as to what's stiff and regular. One company's stiff shaft could be another company's regular or vice versa.

I'd say get a lesson or two before changing equipment. It sounds like it might be the extra loft on the fairway woods lets you hit them better.
Then, if you still want to change, get some sort of basic fitting done.

    Just my 2c.

    What's your swing speed?
