Put in my 3 cards a week ago and still waiting on my first handicap. Anyone like to hazard a guess what I will be assigned?

My guess is about 18. Even though my best round would only be 33 points on that. I really mix the good with the bad

Probably would need cards to say.

What points were other 2 rounds.

I will happy with anything in the 18-22 range. I dont want too low that IO cant play to but at same time don't want to shoot 42 or 43 if everything clicks in first comp and be labelled a bandit

Golfshot has me off 17 but that ignores CSS etc. Is also greatly skewed by two sub 80 rounds in benign conditions on reasonably easy links courses (Corballis and Rush)

For handicapping calculation purposes the most you can get is a double on a hole. That means your best card is a 90.

    I'd say 16 or below. 14 probably.

you'd get 16 in our place. 2 less than best score after triple bogey deducted to double bogey.

Looks like the score card for Grange Castle?

I'd guess 17, if you put the cards in last week it might be worth ringing the club house to see if they have your HC done yet.

Yup, was chatting them earlier. They are waiting for a committee member to put on golfnet

I really played the par 3s awfully

Based on the latest congu allotment advice http://www.congu.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/2016-CONGU-Manual-Final-version.pdf

    (16.3. pg34).

With 18 being the nett differential after taking off triple bogies. 90-72

    (18x1.13)/1.237=16.44

    So would say 16.

Thanks I knew there must be a simple calculation!

There might be a lot of +0.1s for a while

Got 17 in the end....played first comp in Grange Castle today and shot 89 and 36 points so looks like they got it right

Miles out of bounds for 3 off the first tee didnt help

Sorry but sounds to me like they got it wrong. You should never be competitive straight off the bat on your first competition and shooting 36 points.

New handicaps should always be lower than the ability suggested by the 3 cards submitted. The handicap secretary can then review the handicap after the first few months and review if needs be.

In fairness I did beat my previous best score round there by 5 shots and only had 14 putts on way out which is way less than normal

I have used golfshot app for years, which ignores CSS so likely cuts higher and my handicap there is 16.8

Corballis has broken my soul several times.

And mine too.....but if you keep driver in the bag and wind is down there is a nack to it. For example the second is a 7/8 iron and an 8/9 if you keep your head. Pretty certain couple lads here have mastered it

The two times I have played full rounds I have scored 102 and 76....completely different experience

I also had a 72 where I gave up after 12 and the weather wasn't even bad that day if I remember correctly

You'll be off 12 by the end of next year, no doubt

Highly unlikely with first nipper due in November!

Goal is to stay about 18

If you have the ability to Break 80 (Even on a Easy playing Links course) you should probably be down closer to the 12 mark.

A good estimate for "Potential" is number of pars in a round from 18 and thats where you should be at. (-2 for Birdies)

    Eg 4 pars a round =14 H/C

Probably agree....considering I was out of bounds on 1st and in water on 11. 2-3 shanks too.

Cutting those mistakes would be a 12 BUT I still need to be able cut them. Easier said than down. Probably the reason why some of us are 18 not 12
