Has anyone ever worked as a clerical assistant for the credit union?

I see a position open in my local branch. Just looking for some idea of what it's like.

Good atmosphere? Challenging work? Long hours and good pay etc..

All credit unions are independent. They aren't branches of one overall business - each CU is unique. So I'm not sure that experiences in other CUs will be much help to you.

My local cu only wants volunteers despite advertising for clerical staff. My mother who has 30 years post office experience applied for a clerical job and was told as she has a pension from An Post that she wouldn't be wanting paid work, as if this was an insult. They also asked her re my dad's income which is just state pension. Based on this they offered her the job on a volunteer basis as they reckoned she didn't need a salary. Needless to say she wasn't that community spirited. This is a large credit union in Dublin 15
