    I see my neighbour with one of these during the week, stylish sleek machine

    What are they like mechanically, is there any hybrid available ?

    Just bought a 2014 model. I got the 1.6 diesel automatic. Very comfortable, well built and economical as expected. It's a little soulless somehow though! I guess when one buys a Volvo automatic they shouldn't complain too much about lack of personality!

    Ford Focus underpinnings with various engine options from Volvo and Peugeot/Citroen depending on the year your looking at. 1.6 diesel was a Peugeot/Citroen engine while the 2.0 diesel was a Volvo 5 cylinder engine. 1.6 diesel and 2.0 5 cylinder diesel were dropped in 2015 and replaced with differently tuned versions of Volvo's own new 2.0 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine. No hybrid version available here and only the ultra rare 1.6 Ecoboost petrol engine from Ford.

    Petrol engine in the V40 is a Volvo unit since late 2015 as far as I remember. The T2 is a 2.0 litre if you go manual and strangely a smaller 1.5 litre if you choose the automatic.
