    Hi all

I have virgin media installed but struggle to get coverage upstairs in my house (3 bedroom semi d) router is in the front room down stairs yet in my room upstairs directly above it I struggle. It drops in and out. I had a virgin engineer out recently and he replaced the cable coming to the house and there was no improvement. Anyone else having issues like this?

Is the router faulty, I wonder?
I'm with VM and switched from using the Horizon TV box as my router to a standalone router. The difference was very noticeable and in a good way. I've never tried them but some people get good results from those plugs. It depends on the wiring in your house though.

I have the new stand alone white Router... the engineer tested it twice and said it was fine... its really bugging me having no wi-fi up stairs in my house.

What's the white router - do you know its manufacturer/model?

I'm on Virgin, but have the Horizon box. It's astonishing that they pair such high-speed broadband with terrible routers which spoil the user experience. 5GHz mode disabled (so no wide channels/faster throughput). No external antennae (poor Wifi coverage, no MIMO for faster throughput). Add to that little things like you can't reset the Wifi router without turning your TV and wired internet access off as well. Plus the built-in Wifi network repeatedly re-enables itself no matter how many times you turn it off, and keeps resetting back to channel 1. Sigh....

Hopefully the newer router is better. I switched to a dual-band N router some time back and it's far better. Presumably they ship with AC routers now.
