    Folks,

I hope this is allowed. I'm clueless when it comes to cars and I'm looking to jump up a few years and get something with a bigger boot. Looking at a 2012 insignia which is going for 11500. What would mine be worth as a trade in against this? Roughly, so I know if in being screwed :)
2010 Qashqai with 150000km and NCT to Apr 2018. Car is in great condition with no marks. Is black in color.

    Thanks folks for your help.

If the window sticker asking price of the Insignia is 11,500 then that figure is most likely a straight deal asking price - ie with no trade in. In other words if your Qashqai is worth 10k then your not going to trade up to the Insignia for 1.5k. So the dealer will either increase the asking price of the Insignia or take reduce the trade-in value of your Qashqai to get what he needs from the deal.

What you need to focus on is the cost to change price, ie the amount the dealer wants with your Qashqai for the Insignia. Cannot help you with that exact figure but my advice is find similar Insignias from other dealers and see how much money those dealers want with your Qashqai to trade up.

Thanks a million. He gave me a cost to change of 4000 so not sure if that's good or bad

A Qashqai is a lot easier sell than an insignia.

That's what I thought, but is 4000 a lot to change?

Well, lets work backwards. If you had no car to trade in, what's a 12 Insignia worth? Would you pay 11500?

Is it a Vauxhall or Opel?

Opel. And for a 2012 with low enough mileage I probably would. Then again I'm useless with cars and prices, but it seems good

And where does €7500 sit with what other 2010 Qashqais are being advertised for privately?

Way off if I'm going by some sites. They range from 9500, with higher mileage than mine, right up to 10500

To be fair, there's plenty on donedeal for €7500.

I don't think it's a bad deal as such, but €5k to come up 2 years into a car that's less desirable to the masses doesn't strike me as a great move. Unless you prefer a saloon type car.

I told him I'd deal at 3000 but that's my limit. In the market to go back to a saloon. Miss the space seeing as I came from a Passat

I'd stick to the €3k figure and see what happens tbh.

Thanks folks.  Spoke to a few people here at work who have advised me to steer clear of the Insignia's for various reasons around reliability and stuff.

    Back to the drawing board!
