Hi guys. Just a general question. If you get a settlement from an acccident does it get publicised? A friend of mine got a settlement from a car crash but she doesn't want her family to know the full amount as they will all be after her. She asked me and I couldn't find out so thought I'd se if ppl on here knew?

If there's sufficient media interest in the subject-matter, even settlements can be reported. Usually, a Circuit Court case is reported as being one for €60,000.00 as that is the limit of an award that can be made in the Circuit Court for a personal injury claim (with some exceptions.)

This dubious practice is likely, in my opinion, to give rise to a claim in defamation against the newspapers who do this, at some point.
