Road marking strictness

Bit of a weird question. At a junction turning right. Road markings, with lane to turn right followed by hatched markings to the side of the lane.

The lane for the right hand turn is quite short for the amount of cars turning right.

Now other cars queue in the hatch boxed which they shouldn't. But I can see why, it's quite dangerous to follow the road layout as it would put you in a vulnerable position to cars coming from the rear, and also cars start coming up along your inside.

What should you do on your driving test if it's the situation above. Or that the tester asks you to take the next right, but to queue for this exit would mean joining the queue in the box, or attempting to join correctly, and having to stop in the lane for straight on to join this queue.

Here is the junction I am talking about

It's illegal to drive on hatch markings.

Sit and wait to join the lane at the appropriate point.

During the test you must make sure to do everything by the book, even if others do not.

    This (above)!

Follow every rule set by your instructor and the ROTR. Stop line means STOP, don't enter hash markings regardless of traffic around you, don't pass/undertake stopped cars turning right, into a cycle lane with a solid line (I got this one wrong in my theory), and ask for clarification on any instructions from your examiner that you are unclear on.

There is a similar sinario in Sligo, where a road used to be two lanes for nearly it's entire length, about several cars or so. The CoCo in its ultimate wisdom decided to paint hash markings, reducing the turning lane to about two cars length, would hate that road to be part of the test route at 8am on a weekday morning.

There's a silly junction where I am with a narrow bit of hatching and the gap for turning right is too far up. so if there's oncoming traffic the only real option is to stop in your lane (blocking traffic) because if you get into the gap you're overshooting the turn a good bit. There's things you have to do in your test that mostly only get done in the test. :P

Yeah, I have a full licence, but didn't want to give the advise to stick to the rules of the road in case putting yourself in vulnerable position on the road would override any road markings!

Just wanted to confirm, it's stick to the rules of the road at all costs (that's a joke!)
