First trailer came out today. Looking forward to it. The original series got worse as it went on, but this looks like it's back on track?

It's interesting that it seems to be a continuation of the original series. I thought it was a reboot.

Are these lads in a bet against Fast and Furious to make as many as possible?

I don't see the point of making another.

    Oh, wait... money.

Very disappointed with that.. Loved the Saw series.

That cheap comedy pop at the end? Pathetic.. Total revamp.

Any chance to see Laura Vandervoort in her skimpys while being casted by a mad killer will do me :)

That guy with the backpack walking away in the scream scene 10 seconds in is definitely the killer.

Suppose they make enough cash to keep pumping them out.

At least the traps are more imaginative this time around, the last 3/4 had similar enough traps...

Saw IV and V were absolutely atrociously bad (especially V, which relied heavily on flashbacks despite it's already meagre run-time) and almost killed any interest I had in the franchise but I thought Saw VI and Saw 3D were actually decent enough.

So I'd be looking forward to this.

I think this was on a par with the first 3. Maybe this is the real Saw 4 and we can skip the original 4-7?

Good story, nice tie back to the original trilogy, some good gore, clever twists, a real WTF moment in the last two thirds, and that last death was horrific.

If you liked the original movies, you'll enjoy this.

Do you need to remember the back story etc? I remember twists and turns and some of the people/storyline,but im worried if i go to this i may not get the significance of certain things unless i refresh my memory beforehand,if that makes sense? And would it be good for people who never sae the others?

Not at all. You can go into this completely cold, but you'll appreciate it if you know the basics - John Kramer was behind everything in the original 3 movies, but he died at the end of Saw 3. Saw 4-7 are ignored by this movie.

That's all you need to know going in.

Was at a loose end today so went to see this. Wasn't expecting much, but it is an absolutely terrible. Cheap, boring, and just incredibly lazy - easily the worst in the entire franchise, and that's saying something! And I did actually kinda like Saw 7 and Saw 3D. The traps are boring as hell and it's nowhere near as inventive, tense or grisly as the other movies. The last 10 minutes sort of rallied a bit and the last death was fairly gruesome but the preceding 70 odd minutes are a waste of time and a slog to get through.

I would not recommend it even to fairly devoted franchise fans. A real 3/10 effort for me.
