Free bus Dublin to Doolin

So my wife is doing some work in Doolin, and she's organised a life there but they can't take her back to Dublin. Now the only bus service Dublin to Doolin is the tourist bus to see the Cliffs of Moher.

We called them up and according to their policy even of you buy a return ticket they can't take you just on the return.

The only way to do it is someone takes the bus there and she takes the return back. So I'm just fishing if anyone is planning to head out there and wants the free ride.

As usual I don't know the best place to post this sort of question so I default to After Hours.

It's the number 50 or get it the opposite way to Ennis/Limerick.

I don't think there's many that would turn down the ride. :pac:

    Yeah you're spot on actually

Why doesn't she just "miss" the outward journey to Doolin, and take it home?

If she misses the outward she can't take the return. Some stupid policy thing, I know the airlines do the same.

Probably a condition of the tour company's license to operate a bus service. Private companies don't do things like that unless someone makes 'em.

    Bring bike in the boot.

Cycle from Doolin to Ennis and get single train ticket back up to Ballyockley.

Why doesnt she just take the bus to Doolin as well?

Train the either Ennis or Galway, both train stations are severed by Bus Eireann to Doolin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,455 ✭✭✭maudgonner

    Yeah, what they said.

OR...for the craic...ferry to Aran Islands (she can choose which one she likes, but Inis Oirr is nice 'cause you can see that boat from the start of Father Ted, the Plassey wreck), fly to Inverin, bus to Galway, train to Dublin.

Put your exact locations and relevant dates and times into www.a-b.ie and tweak the settings. Make sure you have selected "take neighbouring stops into account for origin and destination maximum 20 min walk".

There will be loads of buses at the Cliffs of Moher car park some going back to Dublin I doubt if you go around and ask all of them how much for a ticket to Dublin that they'll all refuse you.

Even if they do there will be 100s of cars there offer to chip in a few quid for petrol you're bound to get a lift to Dublin or somewhere you can take a bus or train to Dublin. You won't not get a lift back. The place will be thronged. It's not like Gortahork or Eyeries in the bleak midwinter

Well if she can't make it back to Dublin I suppose the only choice was to
    organise a life there.

Sorry but a bit disappointed that this wasn't about some new, free promotional offer to get more visitors to Doolin that almost flew under the radar but hope you find a solution.

Title of thread is a bit misleading OP. the bus isn't free at all - only if someone wants to take a one-way trip from Dublin to Doolin.

Sneak into the luggage compartment when no one's looking. Throw a stone to one side as distraction.

Use the GPS on your phone to know when you are getting close to Dublin.
