Try ryanair as well, they do good deals sometimes.

Summer is tricky at times. To save money try not renting from Airport branches. Use the brokers, and particularly the UK based ones.

Also - dont take extra insurance - use insurance4carhire.com or similar - 40 quid for an annual excess protection policy vs 20 quid a day at the desk.

    Argusrentals are usually decent.

You'll end up needing to pay extra for a specific seat in the rental car otherwise you'll just get assigned a random seat possibly at the rear of the car away from your family. As O'Leary says "pay the extra €x for an allocated seat and stop whinging!" :p

Make sure the main driver is the one you make the booking on as the Card Details will have to be theirs for the rental pickup

I know your only joking, but he is correct, stop whinging about seat allocation, it's offered to you and if you don't take it the computer picks one for you not your family.

I'll let you know in 2 weeks time as I rented one with them :D

Had a friend recently looking for long term rental this month and he had a better deal from them than argus, kayak, etc.

This is good advice if you have a decent line of credit to cover the costs before your excess company pays you back. Its not suitable for people who don't have potentially a couple of thousand of euro sitting in an account.

Just something to keep in mind and really should be stated when this advice is given to people as third party excess, while great for some, isn't the same as taking it out at the counter with the rental agency. You will have financial exposure for damages, albeit paid back after a period of time.

But the thing thats being lost is he's lying when he says the algorithm that allocates the 'random' seat hasnt changed, when researchers have proven that the odds on it allocating the seats it does 'randomly' are so astronomical as to be essentially impossible. So it's clearly changed from what it was doing previously, I'll take black and white mathematical evidence over his bull**** any day.
His failure to acknowledge and accept this fact renders the credibility of his blowhard nonsense null and void.
