Long time lurker here considering making the move soon. In relation to installing a charging point I've no parking to the front house so parking is behind the back garden directly. Will it be possible to install a charging point without any cables been visible to the eye?

You would have to post pics to get an answer to that.

Usually cables can be buried but every job will be different.

There is a guy in Donnybrook who has done this, parks his car at the back of the house to charge it. He has a rear gate and the charge point is just inside, so his charging cable passes under the gate when in use

Thanks I've a side entrance so maybe could be possible to run a cable from there. The house is still under construction so won't know exactly until the keys are passed over in Sept/Oct.

Ask the builder to run a 10mm square cable from the fuse board to the point where your car will be. You can then add the charger very easily mater or at worse case, an out door socket for granny cable use.

Thanks I'll ask but with nearly all new developments these days they won't facilitate any changes or modifications. I'd have a good few sparks anyways to run cable at a later stage.

We did this. The cable was buried under a flowerbed. Cost a little to be done but no visual eyesore. The cable only appears at the wall point & the charger is hidden behind a small tree/shrub I prophetically planted a few years ago!

Although we didn't need 10 square now, we went for it to cover a future upgrade if we need a more powerful charger in 5-10 years time as the batteries are only getting bigger. FYI - We have a 32 amp (7.2kw) charger which charges the BMW i3 33Kwh (94ah) in about 4 hours. Very good for now.
