The national mitigation plan has been published by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment.

Plan is available here. I'll be giving the transport sections a read and see if there is anything interesting.

There are 24 Transport recommendations including a reduction in motorway speeds from 120km/h to 110km/h, further Low Emission Vehicle incentives (including tax changes) and BioFuel obligations.

    Not much new really
all new cars sold in Ireland will be zero carbon emission
or zero emission-capable by 2030 as well as many of our public transport buses and rail lines. The
ultimate aim is to decarbonise the national passenger car fleet by 2050 and increase the use of
alternative fuels in the freight sector.
Speeding up the deployment of low-emission alternative energy for transport, such
as advanced biofuels, renewable electricity and renewable synthetic fuels and removing
obstacles to the electrification of transport; and

Moving towards zero-emission vehicles. While further improvements to the internal
combustion engine will be needed, Europe needs to accelerate the transition towards
    ultra-low- and zero-emission vehicles.

Just skimmed from page 94 onwards. Not much there really and no specific new ideas listed

Picture of car with a plug on the cover. EVs made the cover....

Although there isn't much detail, it at least means there's a broad acceptance of the issues and need to address them, not just on EVs but across all areas.

Giving benefit of the doubt, it's a bit early in Leo's tenure to expect too many details.

Oh FFS. Nanny state simplicity cheese cutter measures. Only someone with a complete lack of vision would suggest that. Progress demands we need higher speeds but a cleaner way to do them.

I think they got that one from a 1970s history book, lessons of the Oil Crisis.

One thing I was happy to see, they've acknowledged that eliminating fossil fuel is good for balance of trade.

Certain parties are more likely to commit to EV on economic grounds than ecological.
