Hi guys can someone please help, what career path would you suggest for someone nearly in there 30s who is creative artistic idealistic realistic (good with working with hands) and somewhat social. Someone who enjoys nature, reading, art, and a deep thinker but not the most intelligent person in the world. But someone who is ambitious and doesn't want to be stuck on minimum wage in a job he hates , any suggestions would be very welcome .

would also need to know your education and prior experience.
if there is anything your tried and liked, anything you tried and hated. anything you wanted to try.

I tried a lot of things I didn't stick with, cooking course , gardening course , sports course , social care course , I'm now thinking I'd like to do gardening or social care , I'm working at the moment and making a lot less money then I was on social welfare , I can't afford my rent because I got this new job, to say it's depressing is an understatement . I am desperate to get out of this poverty trap. I have no kids no life and no girlfriend so it is a good time for me to choose what I want to do and try make a decent living somehow, I've accepted a social care course but I keep having doubts that I won't be good at it, I also considering horticulture so I can try to work as a gardener and hopefully be self employed gardener in future, have you any suggestions

How long are you sticking with things for? Maybe you are giving up too easily.

Did you not already try gardening though and didn't like it?
When I started my job first I hated it and starting counting down the minutes every day until I got home. This was mainly because I was unsure of the different systems and procedures etc. I reckon it takes a year to get in on a job. You are young still and plenty of time to have a good career.

social care is a growth field with a lot of opportunities.

the fetac lvl 5 course seems to be enough to get you in the door as a care worker.
Im going to tell you now i dont think that job is for everyone. think about it before going down that road.

had a quick look and google says

Care Worker Salary (Ireland) The average pay for a Care Worker is €12.80 per hour. Experience has a moderate effect on income for this job. Most people with this job move on to other positions after 20 years in this career.

so thats above min wage and if it appeals to you that course can be done part time. i am sure that ireland will need more carers as the population ages, so its not the worst industry to go for.

Yeah I reckon I can try get a job or do voluntary with my level 5 I've a lot of modules covered and certs like first aid and manual handling, I just know there won't be nearly as much Job oppurtinities as with a level 7/8 and there meant to be bringing in a new law where level 7 is a miniumum requirement, but at the moment I've seen jobs advertised but just for nursing homes and home care , but something else could come up. I'm very afraid of doing the level 8 because I have some personal issues at the moment, I don't think I'm eligible to get a susi Grant for year one and I feel I'm not sociable enough for the job. Do you guys have any career suggestions you might be aware of because a lot of the courses don't seem to appeal to me , graphic design seems good but dont know what job prospects are like

    Mod Note:

Hi OP as this is your 4th thread on a similar topic in a month, I'm going to ask that you not start any more threads. I will let this one run, but close the others. This thread will remain open for as long as we feel you are getting benefit and good advice from it. But please know that opening multiple threads on the same topic is not allowed in PI. Also if a poster is continually coming back asking the same question, then we have to accept that they are not getting the answers they are looking for from our posters, and we feel we have no choice but to direct them elsewhere for help.

PI is an advice forum so posters are expected to ask for, and give advice. If it's general discussion you'd prefer you might like to try some of the other forums.

    Possibly Work and Jobs.
