    3 appears to use 800MHZ and 1800MHZ, but the device is only compatible with 1800MHZ.

    This. In certain areas your coverage will be limited.

    In rural areas 1800Mhz is dropped in favour of 800Mhz for range. You will fall back to 3G in these areas.
