The worst Boss you ever had

Thankfully I'm now in a job where the boss is genuinely sound and wants us all to succeed, but I've had one or two crazy managers in my day.

One Managing Director a few years ago would send people scrambling when she came in to the office, because she would pick people at random whim to do spend inordinate amounts of time doing pointless pet projects that have little to no value to the company (getting the entire sales team to spend half a day brainstorming up with vaguely relevant memes to post on the sister company's twitter page - AT A TIME WHEN WE HAD A MARKETING DEPARTMENT) then yelling at us all the same when these distractions have the predictable effect on productivity.

Another line manager bullied interns and seemed to enjoy reducing them to tears in meetings, but she would then fly into a sulk every time any of her decisions were questioned (or perceived to be questioned) to the extent that she would stop talking to them completely for weeks and take steps to "performance manage" the culprit out of the company. We saw at least 3 people go that way. She would also full on scream at people on the office floor, talk with other managers about firing people in audible whispers while they were in the same room and changed rules at random according to her whim.

What about ye? Any horror stories to share?

I once worked in a place where one of the owners - though not a direct boss, but would pop in from time to time - ended up being done for murdering his wife.
