new job - wage increase showing on P45

I currently earn €24,000 a year and have done so for the past 10 years - this is not the issue ( work for family). I am currently looking for a new job and hopefully have the promise of one in the next 6 to 8 weeks. I work in an office environment and it would be very busy. As I will no longer be working for family and would like to get an increase in wages to possibly €28,000 and any new employer will see from my P45 that I earn €24,000. I am asking for my wages to be increased now so that when a P45 issues it will show that I earn €28,000 as opposed to €24,000.

I am quietly confident that a new role will come up in the next few weeks so my query is would a new employer be able to see that i only got the increase recently.

You shouldn't be too worried about this.

Did you tell them what you earned?

If they are happy to offer you 28 they are happy to offer you 28.

If it is a small office where the person who interviewed you, is the person who will be processing payroll it might be noticed.

If it is a bigger office it might not be noticed.

Either way it comes back to what they are happy to pay you.

Edit: Changing your salary now would have to be backdated to the start of the year to bring it up.

Your P45 will just show your gross pay to the date of termination - so as the previous poster said it won't actually categorically list your annual salary as 24/28k etc. If you change to 28k for a few weeks of the year the amount shown will be mostly based on the 24k figure.

If you're anxious about a new employer seeing your previous salary on a p45 - just don't give it to them, say you haven't been issued one yet for example. They can set you up as a new employee without a P45, it's one of the options available to an employer when telling Revenue they've hired someone. You can also call Revenue with their employer number to get the ball rolling too I believe.

You don't need to give them your p45. Just get their employer number and call the tax office yourself.

P45 details come through on the P2C file from Revenue to the employer.

Not if the OP rings Revenue and requested for them not to. Revenue will place the employee on a Week 1 Basis and the new company will be none the wiser.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?
