Is this for just horse riding or race riding? Big difference as some riding schools you will not be covered under their insurance wearing race riding equipment

Do you mean one of the 'normal' ones, such as the RaceSafe back protectors worn by jockeys, or are you looking at one of the inflatable air jackets that are worn over the standard back protectors by many event riders?

There are lots of tack shops in Ireland, so if you let us know roughly where you're based then we can give you some recommendations.

As with all riding safety gear, I would very much recommend that you visit a tack shop and talk to the sales staff about what you want the back protector for (i.e. riding lessons or riding at home v. competition) as some disciplines require your back protector (and helmet!) to be of a certain standard. They'll be able to advise you and fit the back protector so you have the right size for you.

Also, you might get some more detailed information and advice on the Equestrian Form. Would you like me to move your post there?
