Watching the dubs strolling to another Leinster title today, it got me thinking. Try and pick a starting XI that would be competitive in the latter stages of AI senior football championship.

You cannot choose players from Dublin, Tyrone, Monaghan, Donegal, Mayo, Kerry.

    Give it a go

It's extremely difficult to win a game of gaelic football when you can only pick 11 players. Can't see it being remotely possible regardless of what team we all try and pick.

Hard enough beat them with 15

I made a schoolboy error there.

Pick a starting 15 from the best of the rest

    I'll give it a go

    1. Evan Comerford (Tipperary)
    2. Robbie Kiely (Tipperary)
    3. Niall McInerney (Roscommon)
    4. Charlie Harrison (Sligo)
    5. Conor Moynagh (Cavan)
    6. Liam Silke (Galway)
    7. Conor Devaney (Roscommon)
    8. Enda Smith (Roscommon)
    9. Brendan Murphy (Carlow)
    10. Conor Sweeney (Tipperary)
    11. Gary Breenan (Clare)
    12. Shane Walsh (Galway)
    13. Jamie Clarke (Armagh)
    14. Damien Comer (Galway)
    15. Diarmuid Murtagh (Roscommon)

How about the Kerry 15 that beat them in the League final?

P.S. Apologies, didn't notice the omission of some counties including Kerry in the original post.

I'd have that Kildare number 8 from today anyway. Mobile and can get marks too.

Gary Brennan of Clare would surely make the starting 15 aswell. John Heslin of westmeath aswell

Quinlivan has to be in there somewhere. Wouldnt have Liam Silke but pretty strong team, maybe short on pace. Cork have a couple of players that should be in with a shout. Cant leave out Chrissie McKeague

Colm O Neill is one of best forwards in the country.

    Would walk into any panel

Wouldn't be anywhere near my "XI". Decent enough on his day which occurs far too seldom. Just my opinion.

    1. Donnellan Kildare

2-6 - any combination of the best defender in each county plus a forward dropping back..

    8. Murphy or Brennan
    9. Feely

    10. Dan Flynn
    12. Shane Walshe
    (11. Drops back as extra defender)

    13. Sweeney
    14. Quinlivan
    15. Clarke

Dublin would be under all sorts of pressure with that team. Goal scorers everywhere, Height, power and pace throughout.

Respect your opinion, but I don't think many player from any of the lesser counties could say they have played very good games against likes of Dublin, Kerry and Tyrone. Plus he has had 2 Cruciate injuries and still come back strong.

I understand your point on consistency but that's more with the lack of supply and poor management and setup over himself.

I'd have the other Carlow Murphy , Shane ahead of Brendan, he's the one who caused Dublin (the opposition here) trouble when they played

Slightly off topic but I am slightly perplexed as to why or how Monaghan would make that top 6 bracket, for me they really are the most overrated team in the country, all based on a few good league campaigns, they have actually achieved nothing outside of Ulster.

This Monaghan team have never been in the last 4 and were beaten by Longford last year!

Sure every team apart ftom Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Donegal and Tyrone have achieved nothing outside their province in recent years.
The only reason Longford beat them last year was because it was their third game in two weeks after two tough games against Donegal.

My point exactly, so why put Monaghan in that company?

Well i suppose they've been the best of the rest and the OP is trying to pick a team without Conor McManus.

But I want him on my team :D A full forward line of McManus, Quinlivan and Jamie Clarke would destroy that Dublin FB line with any sort of decent service.
