question about humax freesat box

hi maybe someone can advise on this, i was asked to look at a humax freesat box that is acting for someone next week, i do not have the model number yet i am afraid but i was told its a few years old, the owner says it frequently does not record the last 10 mins approx of a program, from speaking to the owner i seems he only has 1 sat feed into the box and the second input is blank,
my question is there an option for a single input only like there is in the hidden menu of a sky plus hd box ? i would have thought having one feed only would not cause it to stop recording a complete program? and the lack of a second input would simply alter the versatility of the receiver,
    any advice please?
i can try and run in another feed to see if this will help the issue,
    thanks.

Coincidence, two recording cut off before the end in the last while, on different channels, on my humax. Most recordings work out fine, I have two cable feeds, I wonder if there is an epg issue.

You can set the end time to be X mins after the programme ends on the EPG, to allow for programmes starting late and overrunning. Should the programme start slightly later than its meant to, you are likely to lose the end of it.

    Its in the menu somewhere.

I suspect its the Foxsat HDR box, I have one of those, mine is about 7yrs old now, still running perfectly. And I bought it secondhand too, so likely about 9yrs old.
    This one?

    Menu
    Settings
    Recording
Recording start time : 5 minutes before
Recording end time : 5 minutes after.

Use those settings and see how you get on.

Fauling that, maybe your shows just ran late.

I know that when I recorded top gear, even with the 5 min buffer, I often lost out on the last 30sec to 2min, due to the show running over.

Programmes rarely start early, so usually safe to ignore that part, and maybe put 10mins on to end?

My box only allows a max of 5min after.

Anyway, storage is cheap, and with 1tb, there's plenty of room, unless you plan on keeping entire hd series.
