I have just bought a house and just waiting on keys now!!! The house was repossessed was nearly a year ago by the bank so obviously ESB was disconnected and water turned off!! The house is out in the contryside with a few houses either side. How much does it cost for the ESB to reconnect and same with the water?? Im not sure yet if the water is a group scheme or council!! Any help on this would be great???

How long was the esb disconnected?

You need to get onto the esb networks ASAP and get them to quote for the reconnection. They will probably issue a new mprn number for the property.

If it's off less than 2 years it will be about €75 for the reconnection. But you will need a rec to test the wiring, which could cost > €200. Make sure the rec uses the new mprn on the paperwork.

Im not 100% sure. The bank closed up the house last august so im guessing thats when it was disconnected. There is no power or water in the house. I have a electrican ready to do his part once i get keys and contact the esb!

As above if it previously had an MPRN and it's been disconnected for 2 years+ then re connection fee of €79.45

If this is the case you need to go onto the esb networks site and download an NC2 form they will send you a text message upon receipt and 15 working days from then they will issue you a quotation for re-connection which is the fee I mention above in standard re-connection.

Once quotation received you need to sign a couple of forms return the fee above and have your spark send off the cert with the New MPRN you received on your quotaton.

I'm not sure how long it takes for re-connection once all forms are submitted but time seems to be a complete unknown when dealing with the ESB.

Of course all of the above is irrelevant if you've only been disconnected a few months. You could get the ID number off the meter and call any energy company they will tell you quick enough if it has been removed from their data base.
