Hi guys. I'm looking to buy a turntable amp and speakers. I'm new to all this and just want to make sure I'm not buying the wrong stuff.
I've researched a bit and got advice from some work mates and have decided on the following.
    Rega Planar 1
    Marantz 5005 amp
    Mission LX-2 speakers.
All three together kind of fall into my budget of around €600.
Would this be a good set up? I know the turntable is bit pricey for a newbie but I'm not looking to buy a cheap starter one and then upgrade again in a year and the reviews on it seem very good.

    Hi MikeyReilly.

    Thanks for getting in touch.

That's a good little system you have listed.

I purchased a Planar 1 several months ago and I'm over the moon with it.
They are currently priced at £223.00

The PM5005 is currently out of stock with no ETA on more arriving just yet.

You could perhaps look at the Yamaha AS201 which is a good alternative and priced at £159.00

The LX2 where 5 star reviewed in What HiFi so I would stick with those for starting out. Priced at £128.00

The only other thing you would require would be speaker cable. (If you only require 3 or 4 meters I can throw this in for free for you).
Something like the Cambridge Audio symphony 200 priced at £1.79 per meter.
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-100101-symphony-200.aspx

    Delivery would be £6.99.
Total (Excluding speaker cable) = £516.99 or 622ish Euro.

Let me know what you think.

€622 sounds perfect. I won't have the money for this for another 2-3 weeks so I'll definitely be back on to you for this set up. If you say the Yamaha amp is a good alternative that's good enough for me. Only picked the Marantz cause a friend in work has it and it was in my price range. Thanks for the advice
