    Hi everyone....

i have 1.8j vtec 2006 newer model civic. uk import. i have it over year....

yesterday i found the tempersture of engine (gauge rised) to go up while on traffic lights.... when i started moving the temp went down... it happen 2 times... yetsrday started...

i went straight to garage.... they had no time... so i checked fuses....and i checkex coolant... it was low... i topped it up with apropriate liquid and all went 100%. temp is on steady cca 80C as before and it doesnt move.... not when driving... not when iddling even for 15min...

should i be worried? the car runs like a champ.... no issues or rattling....

but i didnt hear the fan kicking in and i cant get it to heat up enough.. the temperature is not rising with coolant topped up...

anyway again... the temp is normal...doesnt rise...doesnt overheat... should i be worried? mechanic i called is going to ask for mad.money.... he said he needs to run all kinds of test to see.... if its fan switch...if its temp control or whatevere else...he said 100e+ for diagnose only.

any tips appreciated... i cant get the car heated enough to temperature to rise.... even 2k revs for like 30 sec does noting... its standing still (gauge)

Keep an eye on the coolant. You may have a leak. Radiator or a hose or the water pump.

well i left the car iddle for over 30 min... no change in coolant level... i didnt top it up since i have it... i was always doing oil and filters.... kinda forgot about it.. did 20 km and the coolant level didnt change. i was more worried about fan.. when it should go on and the temp...is it ok that it dont rise above 90c?

It sounds fine. Don't worry about it. Next time you service it why not change the coolant as well.

The 1.8 Civic has a temp sensor/fan switch at the very bottom of the radiator.
That is the only engine or electrical related component we ever sold for the 1.8 engine.

hm... i should get one then and replace it... just in case.... is it expensive?

would that not trigger engine light error? i have none

second any chance to have part number? there are 2 sensors...one on the engine and second on the bottom of rad.... part number would save my day

How much coolant did you have to add?

Check the connector as well might be rusty or damaged.
I'll check on the irish price on Monday.
