Cruise control retro fit on 2014 Octavia VRS

Hi guys,

Anyone know of somewhere I could get a cruise control retrofit to a 2014 VRS and a ballpark cost? I am based in the west but could travel if necessary.

Darren Stamp, DPS Communications in Ennis is your man. He does great work. I know he's done Passats so an Octavia wouldn't be a problem.

George Dalton did my Octavia too, €120 while I waited. Strange that the 2014 Vrs doesn't have cruise as standard.

It's an import must be 1 of a rare case where the Irish version has a higher spec

Irish Octavia's tend to be better spec than UK cars strangely enough. A lot of the UK cars have manky radios, no steering wheel controls etc. I discovered all this while contemplating buying a car in the UK, for better or worse I went the PCP route should have it in September.

Only problem with the Irish spec ones is the engine choice. You can't have a petrol one with a bit of poke, the most powerful engine is the 1.0 TSI and I'm sorry but I refuse to believe a 1.0 is enough, 113 bhp or not. Of course there's the vRS, which is probably what I would go for anyway if I was buying one, as I like my cars to be petrol powered and to have a bit of oomph, but for a family car there should be something in between the extremes.

I've driven a DSG 1.6 TDI with 103 bhp and while it's not terrifyingly slow like say a non turbo 1.4 petrol, it could do with more oomph all the same.

Despite being in the Golf/Corolla/Focus class, it's really the size of a car from the class above and therefore it really needs a 2.0 diesel or the 1.4 TSI ACT.

I thought you were talking about 2014 cars not new ones. I got a test drive in the 1.0 TSI and found it every bit as lively as the 1.4 TSI I'm trading in being only 7 bhp less. I don't think there's a petrol Vrs available here with DSG.

Fair enough so! I was thinking for the newer models it would really need the 1.4 which I'm given to understand has 148 bhp these days. The one I drove (as a hire car) was a 2013 model, so before the facelift but sure it's the same car still really! I see according to the pricelist vRS is now up to 242 bhp for the petrol model, I'd say that model's got plenty of poke in it and it's got quite a few extras over the diesel RS, too bad it's €40k though!

40K!! Holey moley... I think I was mistaken and it's the L&K that isn't available here in petrol.

Just a quick update on this, George told me it is something that has to be done through a dealer as they have to update on a Skoda server or something but also that dealers are reluctant to do it. I am going to ring around a few places today see if anyone is willing. Will post back with info later in case anyone interested in future.

Yeah it's a pain alright. Stealers as you called them are quoting 300-400 for the privilege of doing it too!!
