Hello, I was just wondering if I could get some opinions on a couple of things, first, I saw these build suggestions in a different thread where the OP was in a very similar situation as myself, what would the opinions of regulars here be on these builds, for a complete beginner like myself would one or neither of the quoted builds be a good fit for someone who hasn't built a computer before?

Went for a Ryzen build should see you gaming for the next few years at 1080p no probs. Get a monitor for circa €100 and a cheap keyboard/mouse setup to get you started can upgrade at a later date.

Wow, €180 for a new 970 is doing pretty well - also though it's the unpopular fan type I have that card (admittedly with the bigger fans) and have never noticed even a hint of heat off of it despite there being a mesh opening right beside where it sits in the case. That monitor is extremely good value too, found it even cheaper on Amazon. Though the cooler can be dropped as the G4560 comes with a stock one, as does the 1600 in the build below...

£708.55 = €799 + €180 (GPU) = €979. If any of the UK retailers don't deliver to Ireland or try to charge a crazy amount for it, use Parcel Motel for €3.95 per item, they're excellent.

The wifi adapter is only for if you want wireless internet as motherboards in this price range tend not to have that included; if not feel free to get rid of it. If you want to reduce the cost a bit you can knock £50 off by going for 8GB 2800mhz RAM instead, though personally I would recommend just going in the full whack at the start as you get better value buying both sticks together (16GB 3000mhz is £117, but a single 8GB is about £85 for example). 8GB will still do perfectly fine, but 16GB will give a lot more breathing room and help if like me you tend to pause out of games with Chrome running in the background with a bunch of tabs and maybe some other stuff on in background etc.

Second, if I was to buy a 20-22' monitor for roughly 100-200 euros, what would be good suggestions? I'm hoping to spend roughly 1000-1100 euros on this altogether.

    Many thanks.

Can't really say, as there are no actual components listed in either post, just prices - I think you're missing the links from wherever you copied those from :)

Broadly speaking though with that budget you'd be looking at a Ryzen 1600 build with a GTX1060 6GB (though prices for these cards are higher now than they should be due to shortages, so not a great time to be buying) and a 24" 1080p monitor.

Click on the little arrow at the top of the quotes, that brings you to the original posts.

They're linked quotes, you can follow them to the other thread. As the OP is new they cant show links in their post.

The arrows he refers to aren't visible on all versions of boards.

    (+any ATX case)

Ideally you'd be buying an RX 570/580 instead of a GTX 1060 (to take advantage of Freesync) but they're still gold dust right now.
    *edit*
For mouse, the Zowie FK2 or Logitech Pro / G203 / G403 are considered really really good. Have a look at http://rocketjumpninja.com/ for more reviews.

Do you have any ideas for a good case?

Ach, monitor won't ship to Ireland, have any other suggestions?

You can probably find the monitor on AmazonUK.

Please note that Mindfactory apparently don't ship abroad anymore, so you'll need to find your GPU elsewhere.

    Cases:
    Fractal Design Define mini C
    In Win 301
    Thermaltake Core V21
    Thermaltake Versa H15
    Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3 / 3.1
    Corsair carbide Series 88R
    Fractal Design Focus G mini

Have a look around & see if you find a style you like.
