Has anyone here ever used Trailfinders for multi country travels? How were they?

I realise that a lot of the flight bookings etc can be done without them but from a quick look at their website it looks like they really take a lot of hassle out of world travel.

Has anyone used them here and how was your experience? I'll be using them for solo travel and Thailand will definitely be one of the countries I'll be going to, if that makes any difference.

Cant help with a recommendation about trailfinders. But I would say that I never had any 'hassle' when solo travelling.
I'd always booked directly with airlines cutting out any middle men, much easier to deal with too.
Only ever booked one night in hotels/hostels.If you dont like it move on,if you do just pay at reception for more nights.Never found a place full yet.
It gives great flexibility too, which is what I love about solo travel.

All you need is a smart phone/tablet.There is wifi almost everywhere especially in se asia, where I see you are thinking of going.

It really is that easy nowadays.

Found them very good. Most of their advisors have done RTW and many longhaul trips themselves, so know what they are talking about.
Got some great prices on 'fancy' hotels when overnighting in places like Singapore and HK.

I have used them a couple of times and have found them very good. No problems at all and they were very helpful

Haven't used them personally but friends of ours used them for a trip to Thailand last year, they said it was the only time they ever went back into a travel agent & thanked them after a trip

We used them for rtw trip a few years back. And for honeymoon to Africa too. Easy to deal with and trip was structured so that we could change flight dates along the way. No problems at all.

I used them a few years ago for a big trip (not RTW or involving Asia though) and found them absolutely fantastic. The trip involved lots of places we'd never been to, and activities that may have been difficult to organise ourselves while away (time was limited to 3 weeks) and there was nothing they couldn't help with, or that someone in there hadn't done in the past and could advise on.

If I was doing a big trip again I'd definitely use them.

+1 also for their recommendations for snazzy hotels, we rounded our trip off in a fantastic place in Buenos Aires that I'd NEVER have found, never mind considered, by myself!

Thanks for the feedback so far. To those of you that were happy with them - did you look for prices online yourself first and did you find that Trailfinders came close to matching them in the overall package they offered?

A couple of friends of mine use them all the time. I book some of the same trips independently. (Last year, for example, we spent two weeks on the same itinerary in Vietnam). They prefer to have everything done for them and go back to Trailfinders every year. They pay between 30% and 50% more than I do for the same trips and are happy to do so as they want everything handed to them in one package.

That seems like quite a high markup, even for a travel agent.

There's very little difference in the flights. The big difference is add ons like applying for visas, organised tours and hotels.

As I said, they have no complaints. They want everything done for them and they don't have to lift a finger.
