Shaun Doherty left highland radio today. He was there 27 years.

I grew up listening to him. Always thought he was a good presenter. Very natural.

He really was Highland Radio. Think they could really struggle without him.

I don't listen to Highland much, but do know of Shaun Doherty's show, and it seemed quite a popular show for many in their broadcast area.

Who is taking his place, or is it known yet?

I assume it will be Greg Hughes as he would fill in for him when Shaun was off .

    Big boots to fill.

Not really a big fan of Highland, but would often have listened to Shaun in the morning in the background.

I must admit that he was good at his job, and was a very natural presenter. I know he will be sorely missed by a lot of people up here, my own mother included. He was one of those characters that people felt they knew personally even if they had never met him.

He was Highland Radio in a way. The fact that the likes of Gay Byrne and Ryan Turbidy were sending him best wishes yesterday showed he was known far outside the North West.

Anyone hear if he is planning another career, or is he genuinely retiring?
