Had my 2011 Passat CC in for a service today. Needs front arm rear mount bushes apparently. Gave me 2 quotes - 170 for aftermarket or 270 for genuine. Anyone any advice as to the quoted prices and whether to go genuine or aftermarket?

Am I right in thinking that these are the bushings i'm looking for? Seems a lot for labor on top

    Thanks

I'd always go genuine on bushes myself. That Micksgarage price will be for 1 side so double that and then your looking at €100 labour. You should always replace in pairs to stop an imbalance of using new with old.

I had a look on a VW uk parts site and they are £58/€67 each there...

Here's the job on a Golf, should be pretty much identical on the Passat...

Cheers for that. Very informative. €100 for fitting seem steep based on the time taken above?

Depends on how easy the old pair comes out, that's the main work, I'd say on a job where it all goes perfect it might be a touch steep but on a job where one or both don't come out easy it would be fair enough.

There's about 90 minutes involved in fitting the pair.

I'd get genuine, they are prone to going on those so an OEM set is no harm.

Genuine they are around €75 each, so 2x genuine, supplied and fitted for €270 isn't too bad. It's also no harm to get the alignment checked and adjusted afterwards.

Thanks lads. I'll go OEM so. Other than a slightly bumpier ride are there any other issues associated with worn bushes (tyre wear?)

You might notice clunking noises when you go over speed bumps or rough stretches of road.

Inner tyre wear is the usual telltale with those bushes.
