Holidays accrued and notice period

Hi all, Can anyone clarify what would happen if a person takes more holiday than he/she accrued and then decides to leave? My logic dictates that notice period should not change as stated in the contract but he/she would not be paid for the amount of the days that he/she has not accrued? Am I correct here?
