Social welfare inspector

    Hi Folks,

I'm currently working the same three days a week and collecting a partial JSA payment - all above board. I always work Thursdays, yet a social welfare inspector was at my house today. Asked my sister what days I work and when would be the best time to talk to me - she said on the days I don't work. Any reason to be worried about something like this? What happens if he shows up tomorrow when I'm not working but I'm doing the shopping or something?

    Thanks,
    Jenn

They make several unnotified visits and usually try and check back more than once before there could be consequences. Highly unlikely they would miss you each and every time.

They could be onto you for any number of reasons. A random check. Or following up on an anonymous report. Unless there is evidence of foul play your payment should be left alone. If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear so don't be worrying about it :)

It's kinda like when you get a checkpoint with the guards and you have your tax and insurance your belt is on and you haven't drank in a week . You **** yourself for no good reason.

Thanks - genuinely have nothing to hide. I'm declaring the correct amount of pay/days worked. I'm single so there's no boyfriend/partner living in the house contributing money. I'm easy to panic over things like this - hence the thread.

Yeah I get you. Just remember they are people too. I'm sure theres the odd wagon out there who likes lording their position over people but most of them are just trying to get through the 9-5. Good luck with your inspection.
