Edit:her commute is a 30 mile each way M50 run,plus a bit of local driving at the weekend.
I'm in UK(Manchester) for the next 2 weeks,so that's also a possibility.

Kia Soul. Plentiful and cheap in the uk. A bit quirky but well proven mechanicals and a nice bit of the 7 year warranty left.

I had very similar scenario at the beginning of the year OP, maybe slightly higher budget, went for a 30kWh Leaf, best decision ever.
Look into it, our second car is now a Leaf since March and by coincidence yesterday was the first day she felt she needed my car due to her plans and we simply swapped as the Leaf covers my commute

Thanks for your replies lads.
While I love the leaf idea,I just can't sell it to SWMBO.
The ceed seems to be good value over the water(I even saw a 2 litre 140 bhp diesel,which might be nice)
I'll post up a few examples later on,and you lot can critique.

Id nearly stick with the 1.6. Think they do a 126bhp version too. The 1.6 has a great reputation, I'm pretty sure the 2.0 is an older engine.

Strange the way the reg number is inserted into those photos. Pictures are probably not of the actual car.
Private seller but garage pictures.

Also changed ownership in January.

Be very careful when buying a leaf, something to do with the ownership of the battery or something.
If you're looking electric then post a thread in the electric cars section.

No there's flex leasing on some leafs too. Nissan gave the option. To buy out of it recently I think.

Its both brands actually.

Most Renaults are battery rental.
A lot of Leafs in the UK are battery rental, often called FLEX. But there are still loads of battery owned ones. Be sure to ask. Usually the FLEX ones are a lot cheaper.

Don't think a history check will show whether battery is owned or rented.

Think a HPI check shows it up.

As far as I know the flex ones have a different model description so a free cartell check would show it up.
