Hi folks, I'm playing the island for the first time this weekend. Anyone played it recently and have any advice on what to expect? Is there a course guide anywhere online?

Enjoy it, one of the best courses in the country in my opinion. Hitting through dunes on most holes and is an incredible course

As mentioned above, enjoy it, its an absolutely fantastic course (especially if you like links golf)

Like any links course (or any really) you need to keep the ball in play, go into the dunes and you're in bother, unless its in gorse you should find the ball but will be tough hit out of. Should be lots of roll after the fine weather and i'd say the greens are going to be extremely quick.

I've a few pics here i'll of when we played it, I'll dig them out and post them

good luck and enjoy - probably the best time of the year to be playing links golf - the ground will be baked, the rough will be long and wispy and the wind will be blowing but not at gale force strength (well not usually;))

    There's a course guide on the website - http://www.theislandgolfclub.ie/course/

....and there's an app (by GolfGraffix)
