Has anyone been listening to the All new fm104 phone show recently? It's starting to feel like the show is becoming stale and boring like it was when Chris Barry presented it. I don't think Keith Ward was the right choice for the gig, he seems moody in the Facebook lives and he keeps repeating the same arguments every night. Is it just me that thinks that the topics are repetitive and lack imagination? Someone should tell him to stop focusing on pouting on Facebook live and trying to be attractive and be more interactive like John. It's cringey.

The show needs another Presenter like John who is young and outgoing. I heard there were rumours before that Niall Boylan was going to move to FM104 but I think that along with having Adrian and Jeremy back would be a huge mistake! Are the rumours true?? They're too old and it would take away from the hard work achieved by Keith and John. After all they did bring radio to Facebook live!!

i agree, it's not really working for me either. i can't connect with it and it's a bit samey. i guess that's just how it is so i will live with it and get over it.
i didn't mind chris actually but i know i'm in a minority on that one. i believe he was good in the 90s though. maybe that was the problem with his second stint, he had to essentially thread carefully and couldn't operate the same act this time round.
it's unlikely Adrian and Jeremy would be back on the show but i'd be all for it if it was to happen. i wasn't fussed about get it off your chest admittidly but other then that i enjoyed the show. bring them back i say (i know, i know, it won't happen, one can wish for it though?)
as for niall boylan, again i find his show a bit repetitive. i suppose again that's down to the fact that compared to years ago there are greater restrictions on these type of shows to try and keep down any complaints. his show on 98 was brilliant though.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

I just feel Keith, like Chris, Adrian and Jeremy is old school radio where he brings nothing imaginative to the table. John has a spring in his step and should be given the chance to take over the show with someone his own age. With their Facebook lives, they're aiming for a younger audience, yet their Presenter is old, moody and very full of himself! It just doesn't appeal to the younger age group. He's still using his short stint on Fair City as a spring board for a career in media, but I can't really see a place for him to progress in radio, where I could see John on breakfast in a year or two.

Adrian and Jeremy would never be mad enough to move back to night time radio, but I'd love to see them up against Keith and John for a couple of months and then see the ratings. If I'm honest, night time talk radio is dead and nearly buried. Unless something drastic changes, I can see it gone from radio stations within 5 years.

that's true, but Adrian and Jeremy had that show at the most listened to night time talk show (i think in the country) at one stage, so i can see no reason why they couldn't again if they did ever decide to come back to it (which as we have both said is unlikely) unfortunately.

i agree with this. see if the show can improve greater with him doing it.

i don't think the younger age group are really interested in that type of radio though? even if you tune into the likes of spin's talk show it seems to be mostly the mid to upper age group of the audience calling in. (all though to be fair, the younger end of the group are in school when it's on)

there is a place for him, i'm just not sure the phone show is it. he seems to work well on the open mike though.

Adrian and Jeremy would beat them i reccan, if they were able to operate the exact format down to a t that they operated on the phone show.

yeah i think i agree with this. there is really only so much you can talk about before it gets repetitive, unless you have hosts who are willing to take risks and a station willing to let them.

Keith is what.. 30 at most? How young do you want the presneters to be? Who would you like anchoring the show?

I havent heard much of it since they started, been in the UK a fair bit. I have seen the Facebook live stuff, meh, it's part of the radio world know. The girl they get on is good craic, I cant rememeber her name at the moment though.

I think he's mid-late 30's. I think mid 20's is what the show needs, old enough to chair intelligent debates but young enough to entice younger listeners in. I think Keith has a brain, it's just very clear he's bored of the topics and repitition is now becoming a major part of the show which looks awful for him.

Tara works very well on the Facebook lives in replace of Keith who is more focused on how he looks to listeners rather than having a bit of fun. But Facebook lives is where her talent stops. She doesn't add anything to intelligent conversation when she's on air with them. I'd get rid of Keith and Tara altogether from the show and bring in a younger, funnier more hungry Presenter.

Everyone is sh*t when the start new gigs. Comfort and flow takes years to master. They will grow into it, in time.

He's been on the Phoneshow since 2014? How much more time does he need to "grow into it".

I heard rumours about his personal life which may explain his moodiness and lack of interest in the show. I thought he was good when he worked with Chris but well over his head now that he presents the show. Wouldn't say he'll last near as long as Chris or Adrian and Jeremy did.

Quick online snoop and he's bang on 30, only went 30 this year too.

As I said I haven't heard it properly in months, mainly the Facebook vids. It's a very unique gig, you need someone who love/hate and I guess that's what Keith is trying to be. He probably needs a push to be more nasty to create that divide.

Then again that whole shock jock thing only works with a certain audience, and it's not the kind of audience that would be having intelligent debate on FM 104 that's for sure. They serve a certain market, don't need to be funny, have a sense of humour yes, but the point is to stir the pot every night and see what sticks surely.

A friend of mine works in another radio station and mentioned something too. Didn't realise it was a widely known story. As I said above, I don't think night time talk radio will be around long, it's not just the Phoneshow. Adrian and Jeremy can't last on daytime radio either, there's just no place for it anymore.
