What shoes.......

I am looking for a pair of black shoes to go with a suit that have a soft insole.

At the weekends I can be standing for 12+ hours with minimal walking and as a result I am in pain as the night ends.

I've look in M&S - Schuh - Clarks so far and all their shoes seem to have a solid insole. I've tried cushion inserts but these have not helped.

Are there any shoes that have a soft insole and are suitable for periods of long standing

Go to a big pharmacy and get yourself some gel insoles like these. You can wear them with any shoes and it'll make them comfortable for long periods of standing. And of course, you can swap them around whatever shoes you're wearing.

I really recommend them.

I did see the gel insoles...wasn't sure if they would give enough support for that long. However I'll take your word and get them until I can find a proper pair of shoes.

I do have a pair of Magnum Viper Pro 8 boots which are unbelievably comfortable when it comes to long periods of wear......they just may look silly with a suit!!

Doc Marten shoes are extremely comfortable and have air cushion soles. I have a pair for almost 6 years now and wear them to work every day, there is nothing that can touch them in terms of quality IMO.

If it is really bad its worth going to a psychotherapist and getting fitted for insoles.

Yes they need to be formal.....black and with a shine.

I'll have a look at Sketchers......night find something to suit

They more I think of it Sketchers seem to do more casual shoes. (You might get lucky tough) You'd be fine in some work places but you can always have a look if theirs a shop near you!

I bought a pair of Rockports a couple of months back.

Where have they been all my life? Those things are comfortable.

He needs them for a work suit, not busking outside the GPO.
