    On the lookout at the moment, considering a couple of purchases. Wouldn't mind a few opinions on the watches below. I'm not really stuck on a particular type of watch, i.e. diver/dress etc just yet. I was thinking of a budget of maybe 1k to 1.5k. My preference would be new, as this will be a (long overdue, imo) present/reward to myself for something.

    Other watches that caught my eye were the new Steinhart GMT, the Aviation (though i believe it's massive and I think the Certina below is nicer) and maybe an Oris Aquis. I also tried out a PRS 516 Extreme, but I already have a 516, so not sure on that.

    Out of that hunch the hamilton would be my preference but
    Everyone will hve a different opinion I guess! What about something from the Stowa range? The Flieger and Antea are definitey in budget and my favourite the Marine Original!

    I like the seastar, very unusual red colour on the bezel. Lots of choices in the 1-1.5k price range. Might even stretch to a few in-house movements, Nomos tangente would be my personal choice;

    But it's manual wind, and even though I don't like sub-second dials, those blued hands make up for it. As Homer says everyone is going to have a different opinion.

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    I'm quite partial to the red bezel on the Seastar myself. If i could manage to get it on a bracelet I'd probably go for it and keep a bit of money back for another piece. Agree that everyone will have their own opinion, but I suppose I haven't helped matters by not nailing down the type of watch I want :D Was particularly interested in views on the Certina, but two out of two haven't mentioned it so I might be swayed off it. Thought it was nice, but it's a fair chunk of change and I'm guessing I'm probably likely to get something more recognisable (which isn't strictly a concern for me, btw!) for around the same wedge.

    Thanks for the suggestions on Stowa and Nomos. The tangente seems a bit smaller than I'm looking for (preferably 43-44/45mm though i know some above are smaller than that). Will have a look at the Fliegers on Stowa :)

    I lile the certina. But it has too much going on. I think it will age badly.

    The best looking of the bunch is the seastar IMO. But if you are looking for that type of watch i think id go for the Oris.

    At the end of the day its about what you want. None of the above are bad watches. But unlikely to be collectors pieces if that matters.

    If it was my money however (for what it matters) id get a Steinhardt Diver. The vintage model. Then a Seiko dress watch. Maybe the new cocktail time. Youd have two nice watces with as much class for the same money as any one of the above.

    But having said that you wont go wrong with any of them.

    The Hamilton is a beautiful watch except for that date window. It doesn't suit the watch.

    If you have €1.5k and want that kind of watch i think youd be much better off saving a little more and getting an omega MOTM speedmaster on the second hand market. It will keep all its value and looks great.

    quite a bit more of saving required for MOTM....
