    Hi

There has been a displacement where my waste water pipe connects to the main sewer in the middle of the road outside my house , I see from the diagrams on the website that this is my issue, I have gotten quotes of thousands of euros to have the road dug up and my pipe re-set , is there any schemes of anything available to help people like me who just cannot afford to have this type of work done?

    Any advise much appreciated

    Hi Almon86,

    Thanks for your message.

Irish Water does not offer any schemes or grants in relation to new connection works for private side water or wastwater infrastructure. You may wish to visit the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government website, www.housing.gov.ie which may provide some insight into possible grants available for works on private property.

    Kind regards,
    Micheal

Thanks for that Micheal , at any point would this work fall under the responsibility of Irish water? I mean it is the connection of the pipes that has displaced , is there someone I could contact perhaps a rep from Irish water that could call to me?

    Hi Almon86,

    Thanks for your reply.

Irish Water is responsible for the maintenance of the public water and wastewater infrastructure and in this instance, we would not be able to provide assistance with the repairs of private side sewer infrastructure which would include service connections to the public water and wastewater mains.

You may find the following information useful relating to the Standard Details required when connecting private side pipelines to the wastewater mains: www.water.ie/connections/Standard-Details-Drawings-Wastewater.pdf.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact me again should you have any further queries.

    Kind regards,
    Micheal
